Tensei Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 This guy has been awesoming up the wip forum for quite some time already. Great to see this up here at last! Congrats dude, we should totally collab some time Quote
DarkeSword Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 omg willrock mix yessssssssssss Kickass, bro. KICKASS. Quote
SoulinEther Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 This is great stuff... but I'm sure you already knew that, ho ho. Cool that this finally got posted. I still hear the near-Tetris segue, too, lol. Quote
halc Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 this is fantastically fantastic. wonderous job you did with this one 'ere Quote
DrumUltimA Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 congrats on getting posted Will! Sounds freakin great, so glad to hear your stuff on OCR! keep it goin! Quote
XZero Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I rarely post reviews because I never know what to say when commenting on someone's work. I don't really know what to say here, either, but that's because I'm just so impressed by this whole thing. Excellent work! Quote
SwordBreaker Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 There's just something about Tal Tal Heights' track that draws electronic/techno remixers in. If I'm not mistaken most LA remixes in OCR are on this track. Anyway, great take on the track, man. Really synthy and groovy. I like how mellow the intro was...eventually progressing to these awesome solos. Equally as infectious as zircon's previous remix on it. Quote
neil Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 How far do I have to get into the song before I can officially say it's absolutely incredible? I feel that even the intro compels me to post this congratulatory accolade. Quote
Yuiopdude Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I think I remember hearing this on the WiP forums... No no, I'm pretty sure I HAVE heard this on the WiP forums because I decided it was so good THEN that I needed to get it THEN, and now that it actually here, and COMPLETE, I think I may just get it again XD. Great work indeed, and I LOVE Tal tal heights... the first OCR song I got WAS a Tal tal heights mix, in fact (Disco Dan's I believe). Quote
Lemonectric Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 This remix makes me happy. It's got a good balance of freshness and familiarity. And awesomeness. Quote
DramaNoMore Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Ever since I heard your Last FM stuff, I knew you'd end up here. Seriously, nonsurprsingly awesome. Congrats. Quote
Gario Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Willrock, glad your mix was finally posted! Funny, I thought this would be your Windfish trance. I was sorely mistaken - very awesome mix. My synth-lead-starvation has now been satiated; Thank you, Will. I'll admit I didn't see the direction that you took with this source coming and it always seemed to surprise me. It's ver-nice, through and through. Quote
SLyGeN Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I really like the original material added at 2:17, and especially the minor 9th interval and resolve at 2:20-2:21. Chills. Utter chills. Quote
Rozovian Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 About time this was posted. Not having heard the original, it's always interesting to see what parts I recognize from the other remixes. This undeniably Willrock stuff, and it's not hard to hear it's relatively old Willrock stuff. it's by no meanunenjoyable - this is refreshing. I had managed to forget this track tho. I tried to remember it, but ended up remembering your Windfish remix instead. I'm not the only one to confuse the two, apparently. Kind'a messy and could use more EQ separation, but that's already been said. The piano sound feels compressed or something, something weird about it. That's all the negative I can think of. Nice work, bro. 80's vibe, lots of synth melodies and solos, arpeggio effects, and it has an undoubtedly video game music flavor to it. What's not to like? Quote
Geoffrey Taucer Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Very nicely done! Love the tone of the synths. They're all simple, but very effective. Also, congrats on getting your first mix posted! Quote
Sir_Downunder Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 The style's not quite my cup of tea, but it's enjoyable none the less! Synth solos were awesome, and the tone throughout was great to listen A tiny bit messy in a couple of places, but that's barely noticeable. Congrats on your first posted mix, mate! Quote
MichaelTheCrow Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 One of my favourite zelda tracks of all time, glad to see another remix of it. Loving the synth lead! Quote
WillRock Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Thanks for the reviews guys I appreciate it Rest assured that you'll be hearing more mixes from me in the future Quote
OceansAndrew Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Pretty good stuff; the drum sounds wasn't awesome, they sounded too lofi, but i liked the synth leads a lot, and the arrangement was good. Nice work Quote
ZeldaStrife Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 love the piano at the opening, and then the slowed down Zelda theme--classic! and now--i'm listening as i type--it's got a great beat. Loving it!! look to b hearing more from you in the future! Quote
The_Mighty_KELP Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Start to finish, this was awesome. I love this type of synth; hope to hear more of it in the future. The drums sounded fine to me. I kinda liked them the way they are. They didn't sound lo-fi at all. The piano at the start is really cool. I liked the transitions you did. My favorite part is definitely when the synth lead takes the main Tal Tal theme. I can never get enough of that melody. =D Looking forward to hearing more from you! Quote
Lucentas Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That is some tasty synth--I believe I may be one of those synth addicts whom have been so aptly described by teh Pretzman. Great job, it's awesome to hear the source covered like this. I shall be jamming to this for a long time to come. Quote
