  2. EDIT: Reuploaded my song to fix some volume issues. Welcome to the voting stage The mixing stage is over. This round has 4 songs and 1 bonus mix by HoboKa. The following people compete against each other Supercoolmike Dewey Newt GCJ Popoi (if you want a different color, let me know by replying or sending me a PM). I won’t use the pictures anymore since I have issues by getting them at this page). To vote, do the following: Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries. Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM. Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or send me your top 3. Do not vote for HoboKa since his track is a bonus mix. State a reasoning for it. Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, they get a free first place if they vote, so it is attractive to vote. Non participants are encouraged to vote to decide the winner and leave comments. Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results. Especially since some people might vote by sending me a PM. You have until THIS Monday, January 16th 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT) to vote. If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this: (To) Bundeslang (if you follow the link you won’t have to add my name). (Subject) PRC ### Vote (Message): 1: (remixer A ) 2: (remixer B ) 3: (remixer C ) (reasoning) I will post the feedback given in the PM’s and the votes in this thread. The winner may choose the source tune for PRC341. HoboKa has a vote that counts twice. Check the ThaSauce Page to vote or click here to send a PM.

  3. The deadline was wrong @ThaSauce for some reason, there's still time (a little over 8 hours). I will now upload the other songs. Good to see that several new faces start entering after I removed the restriction of having to use ThaSauce to submit. EDIT FOR FUTURE ROUNDS: The People's Remix Competition 379 PRCv15-15 Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition! In PRC377 Evktalo participated and won by default, so he picked the source. Hoboka again contributed by posting a bonus mix. Source: Outrun (Arcade) - Splash Wave MIDI File Source Information ThaSauce link: Click here to submit To submit a song at the compo page you can use the ThaSauce page. If you use this, an account is required. If you don't want to use ThaSauce, please upload the song somewhere else and post a download link in this thread. I recommend Soundcloud, don't forget to allow downloads to enable me to upload the song at ThaSauce. I will keep using ThaSauce as the place where all songs are located. If you want to use ThaSauce, the following steps should be done. Click the ThaSauce Link. Click the 'You are not logged in' button in the upper right. Click on 'register' (at the bottom). Read the terms and click 'I agree to these terms'. If you don't agree with them, upload the song somewhere else and post a download link as mentioned above (by doing that, you allow me to upload the song at ThaSauce. Continue the process by filling in your information. You will get a question to confirm that you're not a robot. Here are some possible answers: Name a compo: PRC Who organizes One Hour Compo: Starla Name a ThaSauce subdomain: compo.thasauce.net Who created Mega Mans: Capcom A confirmation mail will be send. There might be some issues with it (meaning that you don't get it), if that is the case, upload the song somewhere else as described above. Once registered, login with your username and password, go to the mentioned page and submit the song. If you want submit two or more songs you can create multiple ThaSauce accounts or upload the song somewhere else and post the download link. After uploading your song, please check if your song plays and can be downloaded and played without problems. Only upload MP3 files. PRC instructions The deadline is Wednesday September 5th 2018 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread. Currently I set the remix period at three weeks. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC381, the round after next round. The winner of PRC377, Evktalo, who picked this source, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. GOOD LUCK! PRC ThaSauce Home Page!

  5. uploaded with just 10 mins to spare, Totally wasn't paying attention to the deadline so that's on me. Went for another style but with my manegment skills, I was only able able to upload the instrumental version. Can't tell if this is a blessing or a curse cuz I was planning to sing in it... so ya, one hell of a way to get out of your comfort zone. lol. I'll just have to finish it later. The lyrics were about halfway done but I sound terrible, but I don't even know how terrible I am cuz I never sang before. so I'm debating if I should be serious about it or just be dumb and make up voices. lol

  11. Nice, nice, will vote in a sec. By the bye, I'm really uncertain if I've got the energy or time to implement the ALL of the changes that Bundeslang has opted for in PRC - I might let people submit stuff to me via PM, but I'd prefer to use ThaSauce cuz frankly I'm rather fond of compothasauce's system T_T edit - Voted

  12. It does but its kinda primitive - and for some reason works better with the FL-made DAWs than 3rd party things like Native Instruments - like they don't "pitch bend" properly without a modwheel it seems. I'll have to do some more research when I've got time I guess - I refuse to switch DAWs though lol.

  13. I'm looking for some help in populating a Google Calendar with notable video game anniversaries for games that have remixes here on OC ReMix. This calendar is meant to be used in conjunction with zapier (an automation tool) that will help us automatically promote game pages on OCR's Discord server and possibly our social media accounts. Right now OCR doesn't track release dates of games in its database, so I can't ask djpretzel for that data. I need folks to help find release date data and create events on the Calendar in a specific format. I'd prefer to use release dates from the country of origin, so Japanese release dates for games from Japan, North American release dates for many western games, etc. To participate, you need a Google account (i.e. gmail address). The event should be created with a start time of 12:00PM on the day of the anniversary. Multiple events on the same day should be spaced by 15 minutes. The title of the event should be Nth Anniversary of Game. The description of the event should be a link to the game's page on OC ReMix. Here's a sample event. I think we can focus on 5x Year Anniversaries for now. Let me know if you'd like to help out and I'll give you access.

  18. It's 2017, MAGFest is over, and it's (past) time we got things back on track! I'll be chatting with @JJT & @zircon - we may need some changes w/ our management approach, but we HAVE reviewed the initial round of WIPs, we'll be contacting artists where feedback is appropriate, and we'll be establishing a new timeline, soon. If anyone has an overabundance of free time AND experience running an album, let me know on Discord if you'd be interested in helping to manage this project with us and we can talk a bit!

    Automation

Pretty much what @Skrypnyk said. Automation is a convenient way to turn knobs and move sliders in a pre-programmed fashion. The great thing about automation is that you can pull off tricks you can't do in a real studio (unless you had like 5 people working your mixer at the same time), making production on a DAW that much more powerful. For instance... You could automate the EQ bands in an EQ plugin so that the mids are scooped for a certain section of your song with particularly thick textures, but only for that section, for your chosen instrument(s). You could extend the range of LFOs (a tool that basically wiggles a knob or slider back and forth at a certain rate and slope) within a synth. Some (most?) synths have a limit to how slow the LFO can be. Sometimes you may want to assign an LFO but make it last like 20 seconds for half a cycle. Well, with automation, you could just construct an envelope that imitates a really slow LFO, in your DAW, by assigning the automation to the parameter of your choice in the synth. You could gate your sounds manually, if you don't have an algorithmic way of doing it (simply automate the mixer track slider down to 0 and back up to how it was). All of the above at once? and so on. This video may be a good exposure to production talk: The blue, purple, and yellow playlist elements are examples of automation clips.

  21. Magfest was a pretty unreal experience for me. Thank you to everyone who came to see me perform! I'm only bummed that I didn't get to spend more time hanging with friends--especially the OCR crowd (I had to miss BOTH PANELS! UGH). I guess there's always next year! (or maglabs/classic or anything else)

  23. No problem. I have removed you from the performers list. ---- Hello and Happy 2017 everyone! I hope everyone is refreshed (or at least done being hung over) and ready to compose with all your new toys for music! Just so everyone knows, I am behind in getting feedback out to everyone so if you haven't received anything from me yet, please be patient - unless of course, you've requested that we hold off on giving you feedback, in which case we'll send you a PM once you are confident enough with the WIP for review. I guess that 3-5/day was a little ambitious. Live and learn! We have three outstanding claims: @The Nikanoru - Titania Prominion - Fortuna @Trev - Bolse I really don't have much excuse to not have something at this point, other than being busy with whatever time I can find trying to review everyone else's tracks. All I can say is that I am subject to my own rules and have a month to submit something or my claim will be open. I am hoping that Prominion and Trev will have something to me soon, as they are under the same rules ... A couple of reminders moving forward: For next check-in, progress must be confirmed (new WIP required). Completed tracks are requested, but not required. I plan to submit this project for OCR approval within the next four months. I have set a goal for the project of 16 complete (not finished) tracks to submit with. I currently have 4 tracks I have labelled complete and 1 labelled finished; if anyone is wondering what I mean by that, a complete track 'is a track with a full framework; one that has a beginning, a middle, and an end that are clearly defined.' This does not mean the structure is set in stone; that would be a finished track, which should only require minor mixing adjustments. 11 more complete tracks needed to complete the goal. I've had to take down Sargasso Space Zone and Fichina, as their tracks have been claimed in other areas. There are still a few tracks I would like to see on the album: Great Fox Theme The Awesome Black Hole (map select music can be included) Meteor Base (SF or SF2) Out of this Dimension (for the truly brave) ...and another reminder that character and boss themes are still available to claim as well. 5 more tracks to be claimed before we reach our goal of 32 claims. The Andross remix is still looking for volunteers, if anyone is bored or having a mental block on their remix. Sequencing/building the framework is our current priority - a few people have said they'd be in like Flynn once we have something in place. I know not much has happened on this yet, but I still want to get everyone in on this, so please, any help you could provide would be appreciated! Here's to a great 2017, everyone - let's make some music!

  24. Thanks a lot for your kind, constructive and polite words. Much appreciated. We decided to go with programmed drums, because we felt we could achieve a better sound quality with a less complicated workflow, but we will record drums traditionally for our first "real" album. We already humanized the drums quite a bit, but I gave your feedback to our drummer, so we will try to work something out. Please keep in touch with us and thank you again.
