  2. Sorry, Sir_NutS, looks like you're out of luck. Too bad, I would have been interested in watching a stream, too (though probably just the archive). The Alucard pairings are: Alucard Bracket Gario: Warakiya Village, 1476 vs. PlanarianHugger: Plant Castle, 1591 HoboKa: Burning Town, 1792 vs. Yami: Underground Caverns, 1797 theshaggyfreak: Munitions Factory, 1917 vs. Aleix Ramon: Master's Keep, 1944 It's actually completely a coincidence that they turned out to be in the same chronological order I originally listed them in. That probably won't happen for the other brackets. Remember, the deadline is exactly two weeks from now, January 27 at noon PST. I know that may seem like an odd time, but it's what works with my own schedule. Please don't procrastinate! I won't download the remixes until the deadline, so if you send me a link and then want to improve your mix, just update it in place (and make sure downloading is enabled! I see that mistake a lot on SoundCloud). Please keep the voting guidelines in mind when working on your mix. Work on integrating the two themes smoothly first, then worry about production and other elements.

  4. Hello! Here's some Star Control II themed music. Sampled some of the lovely Kohr-Ah philosophy and other game sounds, and remixed a bit of the battle theme. This isn't enough of a remix (not enough source material used I think), so I'm not going to submit it to OCRemix. So no need to worry about that in feedback (although any thoughts are welcome of course!) - just posted it in case fans of SC2 might enjoy it. I don't know what genre it fits, but it's slow and pretty dark. https://soundcloud.com/byproduct/byproduct-cleansing

  5. Thanks for the feedback Emunator, Chimpazilla and of course, Timeaeus222, all was instrumental in helping our remixer in developing a clear, solid plan on how best to fine-tune and polish his mix. As it stands, his will be the second mix to finally be considered a 'finished track!' What was the first? Deedubs 'Armada/Armada Battle' is the first finished track for the album and it sounds AMAZING! With the quality of these two tracks plus what's coming down the pipe line with WIPs, you are all in for a treat! Still awaiting a crapton more WIPs by the end of the month, so get cranking and let the music flow! I'm also in the neighborhood looking for a mixing/mastering person to help smooth out all tracks to make them sound perfect together across the entire album.

  6. Hey, guys. So, I just found out about OCR yesterday and after tweeting them, they led me here. I've been admiring VGM since I was a kid but only started making mixes about six months ago. I hope to turn it into a professional thing soon. Glad to be here and can't wait to meet and work with you guys, whoever that may be lol

  7. thats actually a kindof good idea for every round. having the video link right there in the post make it much more convenient to get an idea of what this round is all about.

  8. This doesn't waste any time establishing a great groove, and it transitions between sources pretty well, giving the different sections a nice feel. The real upside of having a solid group group of musicians come together to make a song like this is all in the details. All the small fills and personalized nuances bring it to life and give it it's own feel compared to the already well-produced originally. The solos are excellent, the pacing is great, and the sources meld well together. The one nitpick I have is that i'd like a little more clarity in production of the drums; a little less room mic and a little more close in the mix, but it's clearly a style choice and the track as a whole sizzles. More please! Yes

  11. you could partition the drive, but with 120gb SSDs being so cheap nowadays, just installing on a separate drive isn't a bad idea. samsung 850 EVO is the gold standard for SSDs, but there's a lot of good ones out there, including the mushkin enhanced cronos and crucial's line as well. make sure to unplug both your 3tb and your SSD when you do the W7 install so all system partitions go on the drive you're installing to.

  14. This is how it should sound IN GAME! I really enjoy this mix! This is my new favorite mix of Zangeif's Theme! Also, Kudos for the Russian/Cyrillic Title!

  15. Yay, Spacesynth! It's cool to see another Spacesynth & Italo enthusiast around here. I'm not that familiar with the source, but it definitely has this Laserdance-like vibe to me. Good job (apart from the notes on the timecodes that Larry mentioned), enjoyed it! Also great to know that you don't need (want) expensive synths and samples for this but freebies are all you need

  16. Double post, but only because my gift finally arrived. Hopefully, I am the last person this year (as in, everyone else has there's by now and no one is left waiting). (insert image of Lego set 75100 here, as imgur seems to have lost the image) Contains several parts I didn't have any of until now. More neo-grey slopes and panels is always good, and the trans-clear wheels on the bottom will make for micro-scale display stands quite nicely.

  17. Hey, You should avoid asking endless strings of really vague questions. It's great to want to learn, but you need to be considerate of the effort other people are putting in to help you. If you want to know about how certain sounds are designed, you need to provide timestamps and links for the music in question. Avoid incredibly vague descriptions like "by high parts, all the instruments that aren't the bass drop part" or "a bubble forms around the sound and it shrinks, the sounds fading out quickly". Realize that sound perception is different to each person, and so even if what you're saying makes sense to you, it probably won't to other people. This forum is a place to get help, but you need to be willing to put your own effort in. You should put some thought into your questions before posting them. Also, please try taking the time to write in complete sentences. It will actually help us out a lot in understanding what your questions are.

  18. Figured that since the Youtube link had the intro picture-title on it, I'd use that for the round's picture. It's the simple things in life

  19. HEY GUYS double post I know but who cares lol ! I've got a big update on the status of the project. As you may know, we have been seeking OCR approval for... quite a while actually. I sent the proposal in LATE MAY and have heard NOTHING from any OCR staffer since. I had sincerely planned to have the logistics of the release figured out by now, but between that mess and communicating with our ONLY artist (who is doing a fantastic job btw), I cannot say for sure if the OCR approval will come soon. I'm going to quote the OP here: So here's the deal. The cover isn't finished (although it almost is), the songs aren't finished (for the most part), and we lack OCR approval. That means I am pushing back the final deadlines for the songs to an undetermined time. There will, however, be a new deadline for an up-to-date WIP on March 1st. If you want to send me what you have now, that would be great, but don't stress over having to finish your ditty in the next month. That said I'm going to post a teaser for the cover art; I hope to have the finished version soon! I know it's a bit dark, but like I said, we're working on it. Good luck to you all, hope to hear from you soon! EDIT: idk how to do spoiler tags in the new format, sorry.
